About

Author and artist, Juanita Violini has spent most of her life living in the Bow Valley and the Columbia Valley; both sides of the Canadian Rockies. Just beginning to experiment in the arts in the late 1980s, she was delighted to receive a scholarship for a summer art program at the Banff Centre of Fine Arts and an Honorable Mention for her entry in the  ‘Calgary Climbers Exhibition’ Canadian Mountain Arts Competition at The Nickles Arts Museum. In the late 1980s, with encouragement from Jon Whyte, the Bard of Banff, Juanita created her first book; a colouring book, Waking Up in Banff.

In  1993, Juanita moved to Vancouver and for fifteen years she set art aside and founded Masterpiece Mysterys, writing and producing corporate murder mystery entertainment.

In 2006, missing the mountains, Juanita moved back to the Rockies, this time settling on the warmer, west side, in the Columbia Valley.

In 2009 she wrote and illustrated, Almanac of the Infamous, the Incredible and the Ignored.  Her 365 original drawing depict the daily unexplained phenomena associated with that day. The book was published by Weiser Books out of San Francisco, CA.
